Take care not to stand on the seabed in the shallower areas to prevent damage to the delicate coral formations. Sharkeez is an American-style restaurant and bar located right by the cruise port. You can enjoy a nice view of the ocean and the port from the restaurant, which also has a balcony.
For this reason, cruisers have to be especially time conscious when planning their day and activities in Grand Cayman. Located a 20-minute drive (12 km/7.5 miles) from the George Town port, on the southern coast of the island, Pedro St. James is the restored 18th-century plantation home offering history exhibits and tours. Located a 25-minute drive (17 km/10.5 miles) east of the George Town port, the White House is an exclusive private mansion offering all-inclusive service to its visitors. The mansion dates from the colonial period and is a perfect beach escape for those who want to enjoy privileged treatment and exclusive service. To get to the Wreck of the Cali, all you have to do is turn left upon exiting the terminal, walk along the main street for less than 5 minutes and you’ll spot the fish market. Opposite the market, there is Rackham’s dock, from where you can swim to the wreck that is located 40 yards off the shore.

At the Orchid Boardwalk, you can enjoy the sight of many colorful orchids from around the world, including four endemic to the island. Additionally, you will find a xerophytic garden, a stunning natural habitat where resilient desert plants thrive in arid conditions. The three most popular spots on Seven Mile Beach are Governor’s Beach, Cemetery Beach, and Public Beach. As a general rule, the further north you go, the more peaceful and sandy the beach becomes. While the snorkeling options are limited at this beach, there are a few worth noting. The two most well-known are the Wreck of the Gamma and USS Kittiwake, which are two shipwrecks that have resulted in a beautiful artificial reef.
If you’re keen on swimming with dolphins, Dolphin Discovery is an excellent choice. Situated in the northern part of Grand Cayman Island, it’s conveniently located close to other attractions like the Cayman Turtle Center and Hell. There are also activities specifically designed for children, including a touch tank, water park, and turtle feeding. You can also check out a bird aviary and tanks with predators like barracuda, tarpon, and nurse sharks.
There are black/grey limestone rock formations and a touristy post office where you can have postcards stamped from the town of Hell, Grand Cayman islands. That being said, if you’re on a sightseeing tour, and this is part of it, it’s a bit of touristy fun. You can often find a tour that will include visiting some of the main points of interest (listed above), along with a visit to one of the most unique things to do in Grand Cayman for the day – visiting Hell. This real life submarine actually goes down about 100 feet so guests can view all sorts of fish and marine life. This is definitely a tour to book ahead as space tends to be limited. Looking at some of the options of boats, these glass bottom boat tours have come a long way from years ago.
